This Week’s Memory Road Trip

Creatively curated by the inimitable William P Hayes....

Same Title Different Song

I’ve done a similar playlist to this one already but it’s one that lends itself to do over and over. I promise I won’t overdo it!  Steve Winwood is a longtime favourite of mine. From the Spencer Davis Group through Blind Faith and Traffic to a terrific solo career he’s been consistently outstanding. The Sutherland Brothers & Quiver, another longtime favourite, had a good run through the 70s and 80s and their Dirty City is a good example of their style with lovely harmonies. Then we get some blues from Susan Tedeschi before she met husband Derek Trucks and formed the Tedeschi Trucks Band. That’s followed by Robert Plant and a couple of trips to Mexico from James Taylor and Firefall. Tori Amos does Broken Arrow. Funny thing about Tori; every time I hear her I want to hear more. She’s always interesting. Robbie Robertson’s Broken Arrow is a classic, plain and simple. David Bowie and Chris Rea both invite us to dance and then we go to the garden with The Rolling Stones and Trigger Hippy. Phil Collins has a song from the soundtrack to Disney’s Brother Bear followed by Nashville’s The Wild Feathers.Steve Miller was the original Space Cowboy, an idea Kacey Musgraves looked at in a less “enlightened “ way. Leblanc and Carr were one of those “ they came so close “ bands but they had some chops. Level 42 did much better with their Something About You. And we finish with B,S & T and a rare Greta Van Fleet ballad.
As always, enjoy!
